How to keep your hotel guestrooms quiet!

Part 3 – Recommended Assemblies

In the previous two modules, we discussed

In today’s module, we will focus on the most common hotel wall and floor assemblies and their accompanying STC ratings. Selecting, integrating, and combining the right materials with optimal construction techniques according to the desired sound insulation is challenging. Accomplishing these critical tasks and maintaining a project budget remains crucial to the success of your project.

Commonly framed walls and floors- by themselves- do not have enough sound insulating capacities. You must use proven UL tested wall and ceiling assemblies to achieve optimal sound protection. The diagrams below represent some of the most recommended hotel partition wall and floor assemblies for wood, cold formed steel, CMU, and hollow core plank construction along with their corresponding STC rating.

Take note: Substituting different materials or using slightly deviated assembly details can severely diminish the sound performance and STC ratings detailed above.
